It was only a matter of time, the first women only Texas Hold’em tournament in Italy was recently held as a testament to the popularity of the game. Casinò di Campione has organized a tournament entitled, “Night of Poker Super Satellite Women,” similar to other international poker events for women like the Ladies NL Hold’em World Championship,

The tournament was literally flooded by ladies and all the available seats were filled rapidly. The top two finishers in the tournament will qualify for the “Final Night of Poker Women” tournament which is held from January 3 to January 7 and will be broadcast on television.

Poker is extremely popular with female players and there are many examples of successful players. Although for the moment Italy doesn’t boast any international known female players, Annie Duke, Vanessa Rousso and Jennifer Harman have managed to gain worldwide fame as female poker players.

For now, the Italian woman plays for the passion. Among the players interviewed and who participated in the Women’s Super Satellite, it was found that almost work professionally and they view Texas Hold’em as a recreational activity; a hobby that still they take very seriously.
