Online poker room Full Tilt Poker recently launched a new speed-play option, aptly titled “Rush Poker.” As the name suggests, it’s a new form of poker that is played very, very fast. Rush Poker abolishes the down time that occurs between when a player folds and the beginning of the next hand.
This new gaming option is intended to revolutionize the world of online poker. Until now, online games permitted players an average 100 hands per hour, quite a lot when compared to live poker’s 30 hands per hour average. According to Gary Wise, ESPN Poker Blogger, Rush Poker will make it possible to play 300 poker hands per hour.
Rush Poker games begin much like every other poker game. Players join a table and are dealt into the subsequent hand. Each player has the “quick fold” option button. The “Rush” part kicks in when players use this option. As soon as a player leaves a hand, he is moved to another table wherein a new round of play commences immediately.
While most players agree that getting rid of the waiting time between hands ramps up the excitement factor, the change in competitors poses a different kind of challenge. Players cannot study and learn the behavior of their gaming opponents; their position at the table is never clear; and it is impossible to play at multiple tables.
