Announced just under two weeks ago, the iPad, the latest innovation from Apple, has created a lot of interest among fans of online poker and with the operators of virtual poker rooms. They are already preparing for game applications which will allow users to play online poker.

The iPad, which is smaller than a normal laptop but significantly larger than an iPod Touch or iPhone, may be an ideal tool to play online poker anywhere and at any time. The device has 10 hours of battery life, allowing gamers to enjoy hours of play without interruption.

Online poker and gadget forums, especially in the U.S., are already full of open threads on the subject. The enthusiasm is great and the impression is that users are eagerly waiting for poker rooms to launch of applications compatible with Apple’s latest creation.

The iPad will be available worldwide in March with a Wi-Fi connection. The iPad model with Wi-Fi + 3G Internet connection will be available in April. Online poker fans around the world will have to wait before they can play poker at the best online poker rooms. Meanwhile, Apple has announced that 140,000 applications are already available, and a few hundred allow players to learn and play poker.
