Making a living as a professional poker player has become, in recent years, the dream of many young people. There are several reasons for this. Some players are passionate about the game and desire a career that combines business with pleasure. Others, because their chosen profession does not allow them to live in a manner they like, seek an alternative career in poker.

Recently, newspapers in the U.S. published a story about a post-graduate student who, after receiving her doctorate in cognitive neuroscience, decided to play online poker for a living instead. She told a reporter that in her field, it is almost impossible to find work and, if one does, it is very demanding.
