75-ball bingo

75-ball bingo is the bingo game variation that is most popular in the United States. Played on cards that contain tables divided into 25 boxes composed from 5 columns and 5 lines, 7-ball bingo allows players to create multiple winning combinations and lines.  This provides a more dynamic, more lucrative game.

75-ball bingo is a descendant of the ancient Italian game "Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia". It arrived in the United States with the name Beano, and quickly became popular in the 1930’s. Today's name is the result of an error made by an excited player who, eager to win his prize, shouted “Bingo” instead of “Beano”.

75-ball bingo cards display tables with 25 boxes.  These boxes are the result of 5 intersecting rows and columns.  All but the center square, which is left blank, contains a number between 1 and 75.  The upper left column is marked with a “B”.  Each subsequent column is marked with the next letter in the word BINGO.

Each of the five vertically stacked boxes within the B column is marked with a number between 1 and 15; each of the five vertically stacked boxes within the I column is marked with a number between 16 and 30.  This continues for each letter’s column (N-G-O) in progressive 15 number increments until the boxes in each are filled.   

The game begins with the extraction of the first number.  Every player blots those squares on his/her card that are marked with the numbers called.

Unlike 90-ball bingo, the objective of 75-ball bingo is to complete a winning pattern defined prior to every game.  Generally, when attending a session of online bingo, the winning pattern/lines of the specific game are revealed when players purchase their cards.  Players who complete this line/pattern call Bingo and win the game.

All online bingo sites offer 75-ball bingo.  Cards are virtual, and both the numbers marked on the cards and those extracted during play are generated by the game software’s Random Number Generation algorithm. When playing online, participants may also elect to have the computer’s software automatically daub their cards.  The software recognizes the correspondence between the number on the card and the one extracted, allowing players greater freedom and continuous play.

The configuration of the card tables combined with the numerous variations of the game make 75-ball bingo the most entertaining bingo variant.  These characteristics also mean organizers can create numerous game phases wherein small prizes can be distributed to multiple players.
